The Complaint Department is now OPENED

I've recovered quite nicely from the Sunday move-out from the dorm day. Rachel's boyfriend was a sweetheart and stayed to help us, which was an enormous help.
I think Rachel had this worked out quite nicely though. She had us go down, load up the truck with her stuff and sent us on our way home; without her. Now, for her this is wonderful, because she doesn't have to UNLOAD the truck. Finding places to store her things until August is the most difficult part of the entire move. I could/should just unload the things into the living room and wait for her to put it all away when she comes home on Thursday, but that would mean I'd have to live with that mess until then. So yes, mom carries all the things upstairs and stores everything nicely on the sunporch which is right off of her bedroom.

It's all ok though, because Rach is coming home on Thursday!!

She texted me once we got home and said that she can't wait to get home so that she can finally do nothing but relax on the couch.
For me, that was wonderful to hear because I know how much she loves her college life and I know she's going to miss the boyfriend so I didn't think she was going to be really happy to be home.
Rachel is coming home on Thursday!

Ok, so now to the entire theme of this posting ,which is :
THE COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT

I decided that every once in a while, I'm going to make a post that is devoted to my complaints. You know, those everyday little things that you try not to let bother you but the more you think about it, the more peeved you get? I think actually writing out the complaint, getting sympathy and understanding from my fellow bloggers should help the peevement immensely. (Yes, peevement is not a word but until I think of a better descriptive word, it will stay.)

Here's my complaint:
Early in the morning on nice days, I would sit on the side porch swing with my cup of coffee and just enjoy nature. We had such a nice view from there with a gently sloping hill and our pine trees which lined the one border of our property.
But then, a few months ago a storm came through. One large tree fell and took most of the other pine trees with it, leaving us with this view:
It's awful. The trees hid that view, they muffled the sounds and they kept the neighbors trash from blowing up onto our property. Let's go take a closer look at this to see what's down there....

Are those garbage bags laying at the side of the house? Well looky there, yes they are!

Ugh ... when we bought our house 30 years ago, the neighbors were an elderly couple and their house was like a cute little cottage. When they both passed away, the house was inherited by .... well that's a long story, but basically, the people who live in the house now, don't seem to care about property values.
So that's my complaint.
We will be installing fencing along the border, but it's just not going to be the same.
What a shame.
Do you have a complaint? Now's the perfect time to get it out!
Complaint Department is now opened!

Why yes I do have a complaint about neighbors and the deck and my cup of coffee....thanks for asking. I love to go out on the back deck on nice days in the early morning with a cup of coffee. My neighbors behind me like to get up early too but to run their leafblower! Really the only morning I get to go on the deck is on Sunday mornings for a little meditation/contemplation of life time. Somehow the leaf blower/chainsaw/lawnmower at 8:00 on a Sunday morning just doesn't do anything for me.

People can be so inconsiderate. It's a shame they can't all be like us...LOL Seriously, Cath, I can understand your complaint. Who would want to look at that mess? And what are in all those garbage bags?? I don't understand how people can live like that and not care about what their home looks like. I would definitely plant some mature trees to get the most privacy the quickest. I can't complain about ANY of my neighbors. We moved in our house last year after relocating from TX. You never know what your neighbors are going to be like until you move in. Well, we were very fortunate. Our neighbors are the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. We all help each other when there's a project to be done and we're all about the same age so we have a lot in common. We're very thankful. You'll get it taken care of but in the meantime, complain to us all you want! :)

Oh, my! I love fences. We are not allowed to have them in our neighborhood. That also means we must leash our dogs for every walk, many times a day. I so want to get back south where fences MAKE good neighbors!

I am terribly jealous that your daughter is home for the summer. My son will be staying 2000 (more or less) miles to the south at college. Oh, I'll just have to go visit him in civilization! Lucky me!!!

I'm behind in reading posts so this will be my comment for all three.

There goes the neighborhood.

I know exactly what you mean. We moved into our home 3 years ago from a neighborhood I cherished where neighbors all took care of their property and were considerate. We had to put a fence up between us and the neighbor. I hated that but it has worked to our advantage somewhat. It's a shame that people can't just take care of their own property. You'll enjoy your backyard again soon. I love your rugs.

I am with you on this. I had neighbors at my last house that piled garbage bags along the property line (way closer than yours) and one day I was weedeating and hit them by accident with the weedeater and dirty baby diapars sprayed all over me and in a mad, crazy fit, I walked into the house and called a fence company and put up a 10 foot privacy fence! (before i even showered) I was so mad! The fence will look nice once you get all the perennials all growing wild around it...I can visualize it! My pet peeve is neighbors on both sides of me...one retired, one disabled so they are home all week long that think Sunday morning at 8 is the time to mow your lawn....I see red! Not a good way to start a Sunday morning.

I also say to plant some FAST growing view blocking trees/evergreens. It will keep the view out, plus diminish the noise a little!

Ohhhh, Mommy. This is the first time I've had TIME all semester to read your blog. You're hysterical. Glad I have you as a mommy.

Love you!

That's too bad the trees blew down, but you know what? The view is still 1000 % better than mine, as I live in the city! I would grow some fast growing trees too, though. You live in a very pretty part of the world!
